Bloomfield Hills Michigan LASIK

April 29, 2014

Lasik-in-Detroit-Eye-Michigan-Grosinger-Spigelman-GreyBloomfield Hills, Michigan is a beautiful city located north of the metropolis of Detroit.  It’s residents live in hilly and verdant terrain with a distinctive architecture for the local buildings and homes.  The small population of 4000 people is typically employed in office jobs, many relating to the automotive industry.  There are medical providers in the area which provide services to the local residents including Bloomfield Hills Michigan LASIK providers.

What is LASIK?

Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis is a procedure where the top flap of the cornea is cut back to allow access to the stroma of the eye, a laser then makes modifications to the eye to correct issues like near-sightedness, far-sightedness or astigmatism.  The technology has evolved to where a majority of the work is now done with computer controlled lasers and complex digital maps of the eye making the procedure have a high chance of success.

LASIK issues

No procedure is without some complications and LASIK still has some downsides.  For example, some patients have reported blurring or starring after the procedure, sometimes the procedure is not successful and other times they need to have a second procedure to get the vision that they are hoping for.  Another issue is that a majority of insurance companies do not pay for the LASIK procedures so patients must pay all of these costs out of pocket.  Most LASIK providers have assistance programs or financing available to help offset the cost of the procedure.

Making the decision to get LASIK is a conversation you must have with your doctor.  When you are ready to get your LASIK procedure completed the Bloomfield Hills Michigan LASIK facilities are quite numerous.  A quick search online and you’re on your way to getting the perfect vision you have always hoped for with your eyes.

LASIK Eye Surgery – Pre Op: What To Know

April 16, 2014

Eye-Michigan-Detroit-Lasik-What-To-Know-Pre-Op

If you find that LASIK vision correction is suitable for your particular eye condition, then there is a series of instructions you should follow beforehand. Proper pre operation behavior can help increase the success rate of the process.

The first thing one should do if he or she is considering LASIK surgery is to get themselves educated. They should know about the cost, the process, the side effects that could occur post surgery, and whether their vision problems are right for this form of correction. This can all be discovered through our staff at Eye Michigan. A possible patient can come in for a free evaluation, and talk about going through the surgery and basically what comes next. After the operation a LASIK candidate can potentially experience glare, halos, wrinkles of the flap, problems with night vision, and more, so it is important to understand when you are experiencing any of these and what should be done about them.

Before the surgery, you are not permitted to wear contact lenses. The amount of time you’re not supposed to wear them depends on the strength of the contacts. For soft contacts, you shouldn’t wear them for a week before, for toric lenses you shouldn’t wear them for two weeks, and for rigid gas permeable lenses, you shouldn’t where them from two to three weeks.

On the day the surgery is to be performed, one should be accompanied by a driver to get oneself to our clinic. The patient is allowed to take their regular medication and eat beforehand. However, we ask that one doesn’t wear make up the day of the surgery, and we also suggest dressing in loose or comfortable clothing.

Even though there isn’t much preparation to do before LASIK vision correction, Eye Michigan recommends being aware of what is to be expected so it doesn’t hit the patient all at one. Following these guidelines could help with results, and any questions could be answered by our doctors at Eye Michigan. Feel free to visit our website www.eyemichigan.com for further contact information or anything about our procedures.

Lasik – Laser Eye Corrective Surgery in Detroit, Michigan!

April 3, 2014

Lasik-Detroit-2020-VIsion-Eye-Michigan-Grosinger-Spigelman-GreyEye Michigan is one of many competing ophthalmologist firms that perform LASIK vision correction. However, of all the LASIK firms in Detroit, Eye Michigan was one of the first to perform the actual procedure. In fact, our doctors, Dr. Grosinger, Dr. Spigelman, and Dr. Grey were all part of the original FDA study in October 1991. That right there goes to show the history and experience our doctors must have compared to other LASIK firms in the Detroit area.

LASIK surgery has become a major procedure in vision correction, and for those who don’t know, the procedure is quite simple. First our doctors apply anesthetic drops to numb any pain or possible discomfort during the surgery. Your eyes are held open by lid speculum and your eye motion is restricted with suction. Next a flap is made in order for the surgeon to access the inner corneal tissue. A laser is then applied to the inner cornea to reshape it, and then the flap is realigned to where it was originally. That’s the main basis of the surgery.

The difference with our firm compared to other LASIK performing firms in the Detroit area is that our offers options. We use the most up to date technology, and you have the decision of having custom LASIK or bladeless LASIK. Custom LASIK allows the laser to accustom to your specific eye condition, allowing for better improvement and results. A plus of this process is that it can correct high order aberrations, which include glare, halos, or impaired night vision; whereas standard LASIK only helps in fixing nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatisms.  Bladeless uses a laser to create the flap rather than an actual blade that can used by the surgeons. This procedure has been used in over 14 million LASIK surgeries throughout the world. Eye Michigan specifically utilizes the WaveLight® ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ excimer laser in this procedure, which is considered one of today’s most advanced laser platforms.

Eye Michigan is a trustworthy firm, and has very highly respected doctors and cutting edge technology in the Metro Detroit area. Contact our building for more information.
